摘要

Disparities in maternal and newborn health (MNH) indicators by women’s age, education, wealth, and distanceto a health facility in rural Ethiopia were analyzed using data from 115 districts representing about 17% of thecountry’s population located in four of the most populous regions. The analysis found that disparities in MNHstatus observed in 2008 have mostly remained in 2010. MNH status was comparatively lower among womenwith no education; among those who were poorer; and among those who lived further from a health facility. There was no disparity in MNH status by women’s age. Reducing the inequity in MNH is critical to achievingEthiopia’s Millennium Development Goals related to maternal and child health. Possible strategies for achievingequity are outlined.
