The Role of Smart Technologies in Increasing the Bucharest Visibility as a Cultural Destination

The paper is focused on showing that using the new technologies in the valorisation and promotion of cultural tourism can change the visitors' perspective on the local identity of a tourism destination. The article underlines the importance of the cultural heritage of Bucharest and it contains a brief review of the online tools used for the promotion of Bucharest at the national and international level. But, from this, a series of questions may arise: are there quality informative materials regarding cultural sights in Bucharest? Is there a database of great cultural events and of international recurrent festivals in the capital? The article is trying to find out if the cultural heritage of Bucharest is or if it could become known by the tourist through the intelligent technologies. Moreover, the article has in view the creation of a propitious context for the continuation and expansion of further research in this area.
