A Review on Tropical Cyclone Disaster Risk Assessment

Tropical cyclone (tropical cyclone, referred to as TC) disaster is an important factor in constraining social and economic sustainable development in coastal area. Based on the analysis of TC-induced losses and the impacts, the TC intensity and frequency analysis methods are summed up: statistical analysis of historical data and current observations, and using the experiential model of TC's wind and pressure distribution to estimate the TC's intensity; the TC disaster loss assessment methods are summarized: indicators system method, fuzzy mathematics, and disaster damage assessment based on scenario analysis, and the steps of risk assessment in the Hotspots project are also exhibited.
