Domestic violence is a major public health problem with serious implications for the physical and psychosocial well being of women. Literature reports that one in three women have suffered an episode of violence during their lives. Short and long term consequences on domestic violence's victims can cause different mental health problems (depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder). Recently great attention has been paid to stalking. The evidence suggests that in an abusive relationship, stalking can be considered a risk factor for the development of psychopathological consequences and is closely related to violence. In this regard, in Italy, although the phenomenon is growing as pointed out by epidemiological investigation, there are few systematic studies.
