Intellectual property(IP),in the form of patents,can be very useful as business tool.However,patents are not always the most appropriate form of protection for a new product.Indeed,there are many factors that should be considered before filing a patent application.This paper will review these factors,and provide guidance for protecting IP based on current laws.
