As the working conditions of electro-hydraulic servo valves are different between applications in fuel control of aero turbo engines and in industry, this paper examines the influence of varying supply pressure on the servo control of a variable stroke fuel pump. An aero swash plate axial plunger fuel pump was rebuilt and a hydraulic-valve controlled cylinder system formed to alter the angle of the swash plate. Tuning of the PID control is possible according to the variation of the supply pressure. Experiments showed the servo control is effective and the swash plate of the pump moves faster at higher supply pressures as shown in Figure 6.
