The Cu~(+) clusters containing sodiμm-borosilicate phase-separated glasses were prepared by addition of SnO as a reducing agent. The effects of the amount of SnO on the formation of Cu~(+) clusters and photolμminescence (PL) properties were investigated. The obtained glasses showed the yellow PL owing to Cu~(+) clusters and its color coordinates were close to that of an incandescent lamp. By-increasing the additive amount of SnO, the absorption due to Cu~(+) clusters in the glasses increased, however, the excess increase of Cu~(+) clusters resulted in the saturation of the yellow PL intensity because of the decrease of the penetration depth of the excitation light.
