As a marine, I grew up in a very process centric competency-based organization. Written tests and emergency procedures simulation were required every 30 days. Every flight was debriefed. It was a culture of mentoring. A culture of wanting to be the best and doing what it takes to get there. After getting out of the Military in late 1999, I joined American Airlines – this is actually where I learned to fly disciplined. Checklists became more than just a reference tool; they became a way of life. The Captain and First officer checklist choreography and standardization allowed me to meet and operate at an amazing level of precision within 30 seconds of shaking hands. Then the JSF started its journey into design / development / and production – I went to work as a contractor specializing in STOVL aircraft and instructional systems design. There, I systematically engineered training to develop the curriculum and the simulation systems. This is where I met most of the amazing Check-6 Training Systems Team.
