Forward and aft composite bulkheads have been designed, manufactured and tested within the European research program FUBACOMP (acronym of FU11 Barrel Composite fuselage). The principles of manufacturing process were developed, mainly RFI, cold bonding and multiracial material. Tests were performed in order to verify the structural capability of such processes and materials. A detailed stress analysis and weight optimization was performed by means of finite element model. Post manufacture, the bulkheads, were structurally assembled to the fuselage barrel together with windshield frame and windows in order to enable validation of the concepts through structural test.
