EFFECTS OF ALERTNESS FOR STATIC AND DYNAMICAL LIGHTING AT POST-NOON

Increased sleepiness in the afternoon has been recognized not only a case of automobile accidents, but also as a detriment to work or study efficiency. For alleviating this post-lunch dip, exposing to proper artificial light, such as the light with high correlated colour temperature (CCT), may be the best choice. Contrary to this conventional static light, the dynamic light with CCT changeable gradually is suggested for this purpose, since this light is much similar to natural light. Our experimental results based on measuring brain wave by EEG show that the dynamic light is better than the static light with fixed CCT in the sense of induced alertness which is interpreted by the alpha attenuation coefficient (AAC). This gives the opportunity that the static lighting used in various situations nowadays can be replaced by the dynamic lighting.
