COMPARISON OF USING DIALUX SOFTWARE AND CCD IMAGING HOTOMETER TO MEASURE SPACE LUMINANCE

DIALux space lighting simulation software is commonly used, in particular, in the designs of lighting environments; however, it is found that simulated data and actual measurements may differ. In order to solve this problem, this study explored the causes of the errors and their feasible solutions. Three methods were applied to mutually verify their credibility in practice; (1) luminance and illuminance instrumental single point measurement; (2) CCD imaging photometer measurement; and (3) DIALux lighting software. The results suggested that the surrounding reflectivity setting within the building of a simulated space is very important, but the actual measurement of the lamp distribution data would affect the simulation results. After knowing how to fix the causes leading to such errors in simulation, simple simulation approaches can be used to calculate the optical parameters, such as illuminance and luminance distribution, that are consistent with the actual measurements.
