AN ANALYTIC EXPRESSION FOR RADIATION VIEW FACTORS BETWEEN TWO PLANAR TRIANGLES WITH ARBITRARY ORIENTATIONS

Though not difficult to calculate, the time required to compute all possible radiation view factors can increase rapidly as the number of surfaces increases. In this work, we derive an (almost) analytic expression for radiation view factors between two planar triangles, and polygons by a simple generalization. Though the results are similar to those of Schroder and Hanrahan (Schroder and Hanrahan, 1993), we have tried to simplify them by keeping the required symmetry properties of radiation view factors front and center.
