The Impact of the 'Brainware' Intelligence on the Intellectual Capital of the Romanian IT Companies

In the context of hypercompetitive and dynamic business environment, leading companies are focusing their strategies on the basis of their intellectual capital or their core capabilities in order to attain a sustainable competitive advantage. This paper seeks to investigate the relationships between some of the most relevant indicators corresponding to the intellectual capital of -the Romanian IT companies. Our approach is based on the test of three research hypothesis by means of chi-square method: H1 (corresponding to human capital indicators) - an increase of the training expense per employee is strongly related to a higher capability to develop creative ideas, H2 (corresponding to structural capital indicators) - an increase of R&D expense is strongly related to a lower average length of time for software products' design and H3 (corresponding to customer capital indicators) - an increase of the proportion of employees working as software testers is strongly related to a lower rate of customers' complaints. The study results provide useful information to the Romanian IT companies' managers in order to design flexible structures to enhance their ability to compete.
