Using Expert System to Improve Paper Machine Operation and Reduce Cost

Process and papermaking experts use mental troubleshooting paths when solving process issues. Knowledge Engineering is the process of taking this knowledge and automating it in a system that will proactively assist operators and engineers. It will automate the process that the "expert papermaker" goes through to diagnose and correct an out-of-control condition on a paper machine. Real world case studies will be examined to show how these systems, from development through operation, assist papermakers in improving their efficiencies and lowering costs.
