Preventive Maintenance Analysis for Ceramics: How to Improve Paper Machine Runnability while Reducing Costs

All dewatering components in paper machines are subject to wear caused by various abrasive additives in the pulp suspension and by the friction of the forming wires on these components. To improve the runability of a paper machine and keep the paper quality at a peak level, a yearly ceramic analysis is mandatory.Worn and damaged ceramics in paper machines can lead to a loss of paper quality combined with rising costs. Unfortunately, ceramic condition deteriorates very slowly at the beginning and accelerates very fast once a certain stage of wear or damage is reached.
