1. CNFs with controllable amine density were synthesized. 2. Both native and amine-modified CNFs led to increased crystallinity. 3. Amine-modified CNFs resulted in improved dispersion and mechanical property compared to native CNF. 4. PLA/10% mCNF-Gl composite exhibited the greatest tensile strength. 5. Excessive amines (i.e., 10% mCNF-G2) resulted in dramatic decrease in PLA molecular weight and tensile strength.
