Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) use telematic applications that ensure safer, more efficient and less stressing vehicle driving. If a vehicle is employing real-time traffic information (RTTI), the route is calculated according to the traffic situation in front of the vehicle. One of the most critical issues in wireless route guidance systems where a vehicle receives information regarding its route is the delay that the information experiences on the transmission chain. Thus, if the required information about route status is received with a significant delay, the routing process may reduce its efficiency and determine the vehicle to enter a jammed sector of traffic. The following paper tries to model the delays produced by the transmission chain - a component in the information flow for such processes. It is based on the experience gained on an international research project.
