A wide variety of chiral stationary phases (CSPs) for the liquid chromatographic separation of enantiomers have been developed.CSPs based on chiral crown ethers have been shown to be very effective in resolving enantiomers of amino acids and amino alcohols that contain primary amine functional groups[1-4],by complexation of the ammonium ion inside the cavity of the crown ether ring.Mthough the commercially available column,CROWNPAK(R) CR,has proven to be useful,applicable mobile phases are strictly limited due to its coated nature.This time,we prepared and studied immobilized type columns by using the same chiral crown ether structure utilized for coated type (Figure 1),in terms of not only selectivity but also column durability.
