Extraction of copper from ionic liquid [bmim]PF6 was investigated. The effects of ionic liquid dosage, chrome azurol S, and the influence of other coexistence substance on the extraction of copper were studied. In the ionic liquid, the complex formed by copper, chrome azurol S, CTMAB and phen had high absorbance with the maximum absorption of 616 nm and the linear range was of 0.024-0.30 μg/ml, the linear regression equation was A=5.8X-0.1788, correlation coefficient R=0.9978, and detection limit was 0.018 μg/ml. The method was applied to the determination of copper in water, aluminium alloy and the results were in agreement with the certified values. The ionic liquid could be repeatedly used after simple treatment.
