We experimentally explored the optimum condition of a time-delay-compensated monochromator to compress the single high harmonics pulses. The pulse-front tilt coming from the diffraction on the grating was compensated by adjusting the slit position of the monochromator and the pulse duration was compressed down to 11 fs. The dependence of the pulse duration on the slit position was well explained by a theoretical model taking account of the pulse front tilt.
