This most researchers and practitioners currently consider resilience as the process that allows a person who experienced or experience a traumatic event or a chronic adversity to manifest a good adaptation. In the case of juvenile delinquency, resilience can be manifested in two forms: (a) the absence of delinquent behavior among youth at risk and (b) the fact that adolescents who exhibited delinquent behavior desist from these behaviors. Resilience process involves a balance between risk factors and protective factors, the latter being predominant. The two categories of factors mentioned can be assessed with instruments specially designed for this purpose. Their assessment enables us to understand life trajectories of the at risk adolescents and to develop intervention programs that aim at building the assisted resilience.
