Higher-speed operation from the same stepper motor, with lower noise, higher efficiency and improved step resolution! Results achieved using the dsPIC DSC MCSM and Leadshine 42HS03 Stepper Motor in Bipolar (Parallel) configuration running AN1307 software, as compared to Leadshine HA335 Stepper Motor Driver. For the dsPIC DSC, a PWM frequency of 40 kHz was chosen, to enable a fast reaction time. - For example, for a stepper motor with 2.3 ohm and 4 mH per phase driven at 80V, the current reaches the rated level of 1.4 amps in just 70 microseconds. This is less than three PWM periods with a 100% duty cycle. At 24V, 10 PWM periods (250 microseconds) are needed to reach 1.4 amps.
