Magnetoelectric effect in bulk and multilayer structures consisting of ferro(ferri)magnetic and ferroelectric layers was investigated. This paper describes the synthesis and tape casting process for ferrimagnetic ferrites (Ni_(0.3)Zn_(0.62)Cu_(0.08)Fe_2O_4, CoFe_2O_4), ferrimagnetic intermetallics (TbFe_2) and ferroelectric relaxors (Pb(Fe_(1/2)Ta_(1/2))O_3, Pb(Fe_(1/2)Nb_(1/2))O_3). X-ray analysis and studies of the electrical and magnetic properties were performed for bulk and layered composites. Complex impedance and dielectric permittivity of bulk and layered composites were studied in a temperature range from -40 to 300°C and frequency range 10 Hz-2 MHz. Magnetic hysteresis was measured by a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) in an applied magnetic field up to 10 kOe at -269°C. The magnetic hysteresis determined for composites were typical of magnetic materials. Magnetoelectric effect at room temperature was investigated as a function of static magnetic field (300-7200 Oe) and frequency (10 Hz-10 kHz) of sinusoidal modulation magnetic field (7-18 Oe).
