Correction and Enhancement for Omni-directional Image with a Fisheye Lens

This paper introduced an approach for image processing of omni-vision monitoring. Using fisheye lens is one of the most effective ways to establish omni-directional vision system. Fisheye lenses with the super-wide angle provide a hemispherical view field, however it brings strong unavoidable inherent distortion in resulting images. In addition, the input images in the visual effect and identification of convenience are quality declines. Considered these, we implement methods of image distortion correcting and image restoration processing. The algorithm of distortion correction is based on a spherical equidistance projection. Using the method proposed in this paper, perspective image in any direction can be obtained. Image enhancement algorithm adopts spatial domain technology to process image gray value directly. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the method.
