The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for removing distortion of fisheye lens and omni-directional images, in which a machine learning algorithm to improve learning accuracy and performance is applied to remove geometric distortion from a fisheye lens image and an omni-directional image with severe distortion. The present invention comprises an index-based distortion removing unit for performing index-based image distortion removal when a fisheye lens image and an omni-directional image are input; a geometric model-based distortion removing unit for performing geometric model-based image distortion removal when the fisheye lens image and the omni-directional image are input; and an image data set outputting unit for outputting an image data set that may be applied to a machine learning algorithm by removing distortion of the image by means of at least one of the index-based distortion removing unit and the geometric model-based distortion removing unit.
