Review of 30 Years Development of Silicone Rubber Insulators: The Chinese Experience - (PPT)

Silicone rubber composite insulator has been developed in China for 30 years, since it was put into operation in electric railway in 1983 Electric power system is normally conservative Operation experience accumulation is absolutely necessary before new technology wide applied. However, the spreading speed of silicone rubber insulator in China is much faster than normal expected. Composite insulator becomes the largest one in China's insulator market compared with traditional porcelain and glass insulator. China becomes the first country which adopting mostly organic insulator in UHV system. University, manufacture and utility all put much effort to help the fast development of composite insulator, and they make a great success. It is worth to review and summary from different points of view. This paper divided the development of composite insulator in China into four successive stages according to their different development themes. Three key opportunities were summarized and analyzed.
