摘要

Colon adenocarcinoma is a leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide and accounts for approximately 50,000 deaths annually in the United States. Although current adjuvant treatment modalities improve survival for patients with tumor node metastasis (TNM) stage III colon cancer, whether patients with stage II cancer should be given these therapies remains controversial. Some patients with stage II cancer will benefit from therapy, but therapy for others will harm their quality of life and have little therapeutic benefit. Therefore, it is important to develop biomarkers to identify high-risk, early-stage patients who may be suitable for therapeutic intervention.
