Design of an agricultural production model by structuring profitable productive units to meet the food demand of the mining complex located in the center of the department of Cesar, Colombia
The work's main purpose was to design and implement a model of agricultural production for the attention of food demand of the coal complex in the center of the department of Cesar, Colombia, by mounting Profitable Productive Units in rural areas of the zone with mining influence. The aforementioned rural communities are at a socioeconomic disadvantage concerning to the local economic development policies. The Biotechnological Center of the Caribbean, one of the SENA training centers, located in Valledupar, Department of Cesar, north of Colombia, mounted agricultural profitable productive units operated as a supply network of agricultural products for the leading company that provides food services (prepared food) to the mining complex. After making a simple financial exercise about the year gross income per person/ month, of the beneficiaries of the program, we concluded that these are significantly higher than those earned by casual or temporary work, even beyond the statutory minimum wage for 2009.
