The educational placement was assessed in a group of 32 children with substantial low frequency hearing who underwent cochlear implantation using the round window hearing preservation procedure described as the Partial Deafness Treatment (PDT). The survey designed for the study was distributed in the group of parents of children after PDT. According to the questionnaire results 76% of children were educated in mainstream schools and 24% were attending school for the deaf and hard of hearing prior to implantation. After 3 to 5 years of implant use, children remained in the same educational settings. Application of the PDT facilitates their better integration in mainstream school environment.
