Influencing Factors and Characteristics of River-Bank Type Reservoir Inundation in Cold Regions

Due to the severe harm to ecology and environment, living and production, society and economy brought by the environmental and geological disasters caused by reservoir inundation, a wide public concern has been aroused. In China, the reservoir inundation, especially the river -bank type, has led to a series of disasters in lots of places, so that a number of researches have been done aiming at the analysis of formation causes, the prediction of influencing areas and management methods while few researches have been done in the areas of the influencing factors and its characteristics. Based on the mechanism analysis of river-bank type reservoir inundation, 12 influencing elements that belongs to 3 types of influencing factors (environmental factors, aquifer quality factors and boundary condition factors) have been collected and analyzed, including the names, categories, influencing mechanisms and performance characteristics of hydrology/metrology, temperature, reservoir management, lithology, soil particle composition, aquifer structure, aquifer position, aquifer thickness, soil water chemistry, topography and landform, land utilization(the plants and constructions on the surface ground), sediment of river/lithology of bank. During the analysis, a fact has been found out that all 12 influencing elements behave in only 3 characteristics which respectively are: water table, lifting height of capillary water and water tolerance of ground surface. These 3 performance characteristics that can directly and radically impact on the inundation have been analyzed in detail and given management methods toward each characteristic.
