Flapless vs flapped implant placement A Three Years Clinical Study

Dental implant surgery has often been done through raising flaps, where an incision is made over a crest of the site where the dental implant is to be placed. Recently flapless surgery was advocated. This method requires only minimal removal of soft tissue. Because it is not suitable for all patients careful and detailed planning is required prior flapless surgery. Preoperative CT scan is often carried out before operation in order to reduce visualization problems. Flapless dental implant technique is limited to sites with adequate and augmentable attached gingiva and available bone volume and density. Inadequate attached gingiva and available bone may be augmented by preoperative procedures.
