Comparison of implant placement accuracy using the flapless surgical technique with a conventional or stereolithographic surgical guide: A randomized clinical trial.

The goal of this clinical investigation was to compare the accuracy of implant placement as a function of two types of surgical guides, conventional or stereolithographic, that were used with a flapless surgical technique for single implant placement in the maxillary esthetic zone. Implant placement accuracy between the treatment groups was compared by evaluating differences in the thickness of facial bone, occurrences of fenestrations or dehiscences, agreement of treatment planned and actual placed abutment, peri-implant gingival height, and peri-implant interproximal bone height. The implant failure rate over time was also evaluated.When comparing the surgical guide groups, there were no statistically significant differences between any of the evaluation outcomes Based on the study evidence, with either the conventional or stereolithographic surgical guide, implant placement accuracy was similar, as was the implant success rate over the 4-month observation period.
