The coordination polymer, [Sm_2(HPyImDC)_2Ox(H_2O)_2-6H_2O]_n [H_3PyImDC = 2-(pyridine-3-yl)-lH-4,5-imidazoledicarboxylic acid, Ox = oxalate], has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR and single crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in monoclinic, space group C2/c with a = 28.166(6), b = 6.9970(14), c = 16.655(3) A, V = 2685.4(9) A~3, Z= 4, D_c = 2.298 g/cm~3, μ(MoKa) = 4.428 mm~(-1), F(000) = 1852, the final R = 0.0412 and wR = 0.1010. The complex forms a three-dimensional (3D) framework structure.
