It developed test devices and carried out test adopting combined process of clarification -adsorption-membrane separation targeted at surface water which was polluted by chemical agent VX. Investigation on purification effects of sand filtration, microfiltration, ultrafiltration, activated carbon adsorption and reverse osmosis was implemented in sections. It also researched on working principles of each section. Furthermore, comparative study has been made for adsorption performance of coaly granular activated carbon and that of shell activated carbon. The results show that the combined process can remove effectively simulation agent in water and the outlet quality complies with requirements of relevant standards. Adsorption technology is important in water treatment. Activated carbon, diatomaceous earth, zeolite, cheap bentonite, peat and fly ash are all traditional absorbents while the most widely used one in water treatment at present is activated carbon. In America, activated carbon has even been used as a reference for selection of alternative method for treatment of micro organic pollutants in water or waste water to ensure effectiveness of treatment results. Membrane separation technology is getting more and more widely used in treatment of potable water, which is a significant technical breakthrough. At present, relevant studies has also been carried out in China with regard to treatment of water polluted by biochemical warfare agents adopting membrane separation technology. VX is a typical nerve agent which is persistent. Its toxicity is strong and will last long. It is main armed agent of chemical weapon of militarily superior countries such as America and Russian. Water source often becomes major target for enemies and terrorists to attack or to poisoning. Inspection is carried out in this article in terms of removal effects of chemical agent in water at each process stage adopting the process of coagulation, filtration, microfiltration, ultrafiltration, activated carbon adsorption and reverse osmosis membrane targeted at chemical agent VX polluted surface water. It provides practical technology and equipment for obtaining of safe potable water in emergency case when surface water source is contaminated with biochemical attack or poison in war or when it is poisoned by terrorist attack in peacetime.
