摘要

Increased mobility by continuously reduced availability of resources demands innovative technical advances. Increasing scarcity of resources and energy, however, will influence the cost structure of products, services, locations, and types of mobility. A key strategy is the development and use of resources-efficient production processes, systems, and new sustainable materials to cope with the economic and ecologic driving forces. Selective, electromagnetic technologies as e.g. microwaves open up uniquely the replacement of conventional thermal processes, if maturity for industrialization can be achieved. The paper investigates science and engineering approaches for R&D in the field of industrial materials processing starting from nano-scaled material considerations to meet sustainable high quality automotive products.
