The analogy between Heavy Quarkonium and QED bound states has been used for a long time now. Muonic hydrogen can be very suitable for this comparison because of the fact that it can survive up to temperatures in which there are electrons and positrons in the thermal bath, while heavy quarkonium exists in thermal baths with thermalized light quarks. Moreover, recent developments in high energy laser pulses could make it possible to study this system in an electron-positron plasma experimentally. We will present a systematic analysis of this system using Non-relativistic Effective theories both in the massless electron case and in the actual finite mass case. Implications for the heavy quarkonium case will also be discussed.
