Smart technology and digital textbook are important conditions for modernizing learning environments. The term 'smart' has its own meaning in this context, but it's also an abbreviation for self-directed, media-based, accessible, resource-rich and timely. S.M.A.R.T. digital textbooks are necessary for successful learning on creativity. Creativity needs to be fostered cross-curricula from content classes to language classes. Foreign language classes are often thought a last place to think about fostering creativity due to its limited language and its language bind topics. However, foreign language classes can provide interesting opportunities for students to realize the boundaries of the comfortable zones of their language and culture. The paper will define and discuss the creativity in foreign language classrooms in terms of the five elements indicated by S.M.A.R.T. and how the smart technology and digital textbooks are instrumental for successful learning by showing practices of smart education.
