A comparison was carried out on the determination of rutin and chlorogenic acid in the eucommin and 20% chlorogenic acid by TLC and UV. The result indicated that the former is more accurate and complicated than the later. The scavenging rate of ·OH was in the sequence of vitamin C, chlorogenic acid, rutin, 20% chlorogenic acid and eucommin. The obtained results can provide some theoretical evidence for utilization of Eucommia ulmoides.
