摘要

Foundation for Analytical Science and Technology in Africa (FASTA) is a registered charity comprised of industrial and academic scientists from the analytical sector in the UK. It was founded by Steve Lancaster from BP and Barrie Nixon from Mass Spec UK on September 20, 2006, to support scientific education, analytical research and the preservation of the environment in Africa via capacity-building and technology transfer. Several organisations, including: The Royal Society of Chemistry, The British Mass Spectrometry Society, Mass Spec UK, Pfizer, BP and Perkin-Elmer, have been very supportive by providing generous grants and equipment donations. This support has been critical in allowing FASTA to set up the first GC-MS laboratory at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology in Nairobi.
