The effect of stack pressure on an 80 KW Phosphoric-Acid Fuel-Cells stack (PAFC) output power was investigated. The investigation utilized an oil cooled experimental setup. The cell output power was monitored as a function of time, stack pressure and coolant Reynolds numbers during start up, steady state, and shut down operational modes. Different HVAC, refrigeration and lighting connected loads were utilized to simulate a refrigerated perishable products storage facility application. The average stack pressure and coolant Reynolds numbers were varied between zero and 3500 KPa and 15 to 80 respectively.
