Reorganization of Master Manufacturing Process-Planning Based on Complexity in Mass Customization

In order to keep the flexibility and intelligence of master manufacturing process-planning in mass customization, it is significant to control its decision-making complexity. Firstly, the decision-making tree description of master manufacturing process-planning was presented, and then the rules of pruning decision-making tree and constructing decision-making subtree based on machining feature were put forward so as to provide model object for complexity analysis. Secondly, cyclomatic complexity is employed to explore decision-making complexity characteristic of manufacturing process-planning knowledge. And module design complexity of decision-making subtree and integration complexity of decision-making tree were defined respectively. Based on these, controlling complexity method such as union and partition was implemented to decision-making tree with the priority sequence of process-planning harmoniousness, datum plane consistency, and process-planning integrity. Finally, a case study was given to explain the principles and methods mentioned.
