The Finite Element (FE) buckling solution of circular cylindrical shells with initial geometric imperfections, periodic in the hoop direction, under uniform external pressure is analyzed. The research is focused on the influence of the periodic imperfection on the buckling load value. The effect of "static resonance" is manifested for the given class of problems. Results of a linear bifurcation analysis as well as geometrically nonlinear solution are discussed, and numerical solutions of total and bending strain energy are presented.
