The paper presents a problem of stability of thin plates with functionally graded structures. To describe this kind of plates three averaged models are proposed: a tolerance model, an asymptotic model and a combined model called the asymptotic-tolerance model, cf. Wozniak et al. (eds.) (2010). It is shown that using the tolerance averaging technique the governing equations with non-continuous, tolerance-periodic, highly oscillating coefficients, which describe stability problems of these plates, can be replaced by the system of differential equations with slowly varying coefficients.
