A simple model is proposed for predicting the variation of shear modulus with respect to matric suction in unsaturated sandy soils. The model uses the soil-water characteristic curve (SWCC) and the shear modulus at saturated condition along with two fitting parameters and The validity of the proposed method was tested on experimental data reported in the literature on different sandy soils (i.e. 0 ≤ Ip ≤ 4.9). The results show that there is a good comparison between the measured and the predicted shear modulus values.
