Advance in Regional Ecological Risk Assessment

Regional ecological risk assessment is a quantitative evaluation of the risks associated with a possible hazard brought by environmental pollution, human accidents or natural disasters. It aims to provide scientific basis for eco-environmental risk management. Follows form the development of regional ecological risk assessment, we have some results: ①ecological risks have some characteristics, such as objectivity, uncertainty, complexity, inner value, and dynamic evolvement. ②the main purpose of ecological risk assessment is to investigate the sources of ecosystem and its elements, and to estimate the possibility of risk and its negative effect, then some measures can be taken accordingly; ③ecological risk assessment are mainly composed by hazard assessment, exposure assessment, receptors analysis and risk characterization; ④ecological risk assessment involves many subjects such as Environment science, Ecology, Environmental and Ecological Toxicology, Geometry, Disaster Science and so on. In both theory and practical, the study to regional ecological risk assessment needs to be developed further.
