THE IAEA ACTIVITIES SUPPORTING IMPLEMENTATION OF BEST PRACTICE IN URANIUM PRODUCTION CYCLE

Since the International Atomic Energy Agency’s foundation in 1957, the Agency has had an increasing interest in uranium production cycle (UPC) developments. Recent activities cover tasks on uranium geology & deposits, exploration, mining & processing including environmental issues. The two projects titles are (1) Updating uranium resources, supply and demand and nuclear fuel cycle databases and (2) Supporting good practices in the UPC in particular for new countries. Based o the recent experience, one of the new activities is focused at human resources development to improve application of best practice called Uranium Production Cycle Network (UPNet).
