In this project a smart sensor is being developed which is able to analyse the condition of a hydraulic shock absorber used with a pneumatic linear drive in automation technology. At the same time this sensor also serves as a proximity sensor, generating a signal when the linear drive's piston has reached its end-position. In the following this sensor will be called "SALT-Sensor" as a short form for "Shock Absorber Life Time Sensor".
