Modern combine harvesters offer more and more adjustment possibilities and setting parameters. This allows a very good adaptation to any harvesting condition, however difficult or uncommon they may be, and leads to a high combine performance and excellent harvesting results. Still, the rising number of setting possibilities raises the demands on the driver, who has to choose appropriate settings. This paper presents the assistance system CEMOS (CLAAS Electronic Machine Optimization Service) which helps the combine driver to adjust the combine harvester. The dialog-based assistance system is located on a separate terminal within the combine cabin. According to given optimization goals, CEMOS proposes new machine settings to the operator. These proposals cover virtually any setting possibility related to the harvesting process, from cutting via threshing, separation, and cleaning to chopping and straw management The effects of the proposed settings are evaluated by the driver with the help of CEMOS. By repeating the steps of machine adjustment and settings evaluation, CEMOS leads even inexperienced combine drivers to optimal harvesting results.
