Optimization of the harvesting process using a combine harvester by use of a slide rule type device to enable optimum machine settings and harvesting speed for an acceptable level of loss

Combined slide rule that can be operated manually or integrated into a machine. Meteorological and biological conditions define a time at which harvesting is urgent. A percentage loss amount that can be sustained by the farmer is determined and using the slide rule a corresponding drive speed for the combine harvester is determined.
