Water or moisture intrusion into avionics bays has become a major concern in the aviation industry with the increased reliance on high-tech electronic equipments in the aircraft. In recent years there had been several high profile airline operational incidents related to this problem worldwide. Rainwater has been identified as a major source of water intrusion during wet seasons. Notably typhoons Hagupit (in Yr08 which flooded Lantau HK) and Toraji (in Yr09 which affected Taiwan Central) brought record breaking levels of rainfall to the Asia Pacific regions, changes possibly due to the global warming effect.
